Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) confirm that two suspects have been arrested after an officer was shot and killed near Hagersville.
On Tuesday night, OPP confirmed that Grzegorz Pierzchala, a provincial constable, was killed in the line of duty. The officer, who was 28 years old, had served on the force for just over one year.

Around 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday, the OPP issued an emergency alert asking the public to shelter in place as officers searched for suspects who may be armed and dangerous.
OPP Constable Ed Sanchuk posted a video to the West Region OPP Twitter feed describing the incident that took place in Haldimand County on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the video, around 2:40 p.m., a Haldimand County OPP officer was shot while responding to a vehicle in a ditch at Indian Line and Concession 14 of Walpole. Sanchuk said a man and woman fled the scene. At the time, police were turning to the public for information.
At 8 p.m., OPP announced that two suspects had been located and taken into custody.
Police say there is no longer a need to shelter in place.
