What's open, closed in London over the holidays

With Christmas arriving on Sunday, Londoners who venture out after 48 hours of hunkering down due to a massive winter storm will need to be aware of several closures.

Below is a list of what is open and closed in the city on Christmas and Boxing Day:

Government offices (federal, provincial, and municipal), banks, and Canada Post will be closed. As the official holiday falls on a Sunday, the closure will be applied to the next business day. That means government offices and banks will be closed and no mail will be delivered on Monday and Tuesday.

LCBO and Beer Stores, which will close early on Christmas Eve, will remain shut on Christmas Day. Select locations will reopen on Boxing Day. For Beer Stores in London, the location at 1600 Dundas St. E, 155 Clarke Rd., 414 Wharncliffe Rd. S. (Drive Thru Only), 1080 Adelaide St. N., and 1005 Wellington Rd. S. will welcome customers from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on that day.

London Public Library branches will be closed on Christmas and Boxing Day

Retail outlets including White Oaks Mall, Masonville Place, Westmount Shopping Centre, and Cherryhill Village Mall, grocery stores, and Costco Wholesale will keep their doors shut on Christmas. They will reopen on Boxing Day, many with door crasher deals. White Oaks will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on December 26, while Masonville will open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Boxing Day hours have not been posted for Westmount and Cherryhill.

Most drug stores will be closed for Christmas and reopen on Boxing Day. The Rexall location at 1593 Adelaide St. N. will be open on Christmas Day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Movie theatres, select coffee shops and restaurants, and some convenience stores will be open on Christmas Day. Anyone considering venturing out to one are advised to call ahead.

The outdoor skating rink at Victoria Park will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Holiday lights in the park can be viewed as of 5 p.m. each day.

The LTC will be operating on a special holiday schedule, which can be viewed by clicking here. Regular bus service resumes on Tuesday.
