Provincial police in Norfolk County have charged three people after a number of drugs, including several kinds of fentanyl, were found in a vehicle in Simcoe.

According to investigators, around 10:14 p.m. Wednesday, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit and uniformed officers stopped a vehicle on Colborne Street North.

During a search, police seized an unspecified amount of suspected pink, orange, red and white coloured fentanyl along with what police believed to be cocaine, hydromorphone and cannabis. Officers also found cash in the vehicle during the probe.

As a result, three people have been charged with a number of drug trafficking offences. The accused, a 66-year-old Norfolk County man, a 44-year-old Tillsonburg man and a 24-year-old Haldimand County woman face a total of 20 charges.

On top of several drug trafficking charges, the Tillsonburg man is also charged with possession of a prohibited device or ammunition and possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order. He and the Haldimand County woman are also charged with property obtained by crime under $5,000. The man faces four counts of failing to comply with a probation order, while the woman was only dealt with one count of breaking a probation order.

All accused were taken into police custody and were scheduled to appear in court Thursday afternoon.
