Elizabeth May to return as Green Party leader

Elizabeth May will make a comeback as the leader of the Green Party of Canada, this time joined by co-leader John Pedneault, a former human rights activist.

May previously held the role from 2006-2019. This year, she ran on a joint ticket promising to share the role and responsibilities with 32-year-old Pedneault. May has said that she wants to see her running mate become the "new face" of the federal party.

Together, the two will seek a co-leadership model, which will require the Green Party to amend its constitution. Interim Leader Amita Kuttner predicts that, in the meantime, May will likely appoint Pedneault as deputy leader.

May and Pedneault have yet to make a statement on the Saturday night results.
