Man arrested in east London shooting

A 46-year-old London man wanted in connection with a shooting at an east-end townhouse complex last month has been arrested.

London police announced Wednesday officers had taken Mickey Lacourse into custody.

Police had been looking for him since September 20 when he was charged by way of warrant with aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent to wound or endanger life, unauthorized use of a prohibited or restricted firearm, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without a licence, possession of a loaded regulated firearm, possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and breach of probation.

The charges stem from a shooting that happened three days earlier in a parking lot on Bonaventure Drive north of Admiral Drive. Officers checking on the welfare of a person in the area found evidence a shooting had taken place, but the incident had not been reported.

Through further investigation, police learned that a man in hospital with “significant injuries” was linked to the incident.

Police searched for Lacourse for two weeks before locating and arresting him early Wednesday. He is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges Wednesday.
