Health unit reopening vaxx clinic at Westmount Shopping Centre

In an effort to get more people vaccinated ahead of the colder months, the Middlesex London Health Unit is reopening one of its mall-based COVID-19 vaccination sites.

Starting Thursday, the clinic at Westmount Shopping Centre will reopen its doors. In addition to providing more vaccination capacity for the health unit, it will give residents, particularly in west London, a more convenient location to get the shot.

"With colder weather in store for the coming months, we expect people to be spending more time indoors, in closer proximity to others than they may have been in quite a while,” said Dr. Alex Summers, the region's medical officer of health. “We know COVID-19 is here to stay, and that it continues to circulate, so being up to date with your booster doses is the best way to avoid becoming ill from the virus this fall.”

The Westmount clinic is located beside Bulk Barrel, near Entrance 1 off of Viscount Road. It will operate on a walk-in basis from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

The clinic will offer people any dose of the vaccine that they are currently eligible for, including either of the primary series shots or booster doses.

It is recommended people wait at least six months after receiving the last of their initial two doses before receiving a booster. Anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 is advised to wait three months after their recovery before getting a booster.

When the clinic last operated at Westmount in July, more than 1,600 doses were administered.

A list of COVID-19 vaccination clinics and vaccine eligibility information can be found on the health unit's website.
