Photo released of suspect vehicle sought in east London fatal hit and run

London police have released a photo of a vehicle suspected to be involved in a hit and run that killed a cyclist in the city's east end earlier this month.

The incident happened September 18 at around 4:40 a.m. when a man riding his bike was struck by a vehicle near the area of Hamilton Road and Little Grey Street. The man suffered serious injuries from the crash and was taken to hospital. Police confirmed later the same day that the man died in hospital.

Following his passing, police identified the victim as 29-year-old Jibin Cheruvilputhenpurayil Benoy. Police then announced the suspect vehicle sought in the investigation is described as a blue four-door sedan with a loud muffler. The vehicle is believed to have significant damage to the front end, hood and windshield.

On Thursday, investigators released a photo they obtained of a vehicle matching that description near the area and time of when the crash happened, except the vehicle in the picture has just two doors.

Police ask that anyone who was on Hamilton Road on September 18 between 4:30-4:45 a.m., or who may have dash-cam, residential or business video that could assist with the investigation, to contact the London Police Service at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be sent in online anonymously to London Elgin Middlesex Crime Stoppers.
