East London stabbing leaves man with life-threatening injuries

London police are investigating a stabbing that sent a man to hospital with serious injuries.

Police received a 911 call around 7:15 p.m. Monday about a man who had been stabbed on Nelson Street near Lansdowne Avenue.

Emergency crews arrived to find a man suffering from apparent stab wounds. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

"The investigation was reassigned to members of the major crime section and is in its early stages," police said in a statement Tuesday morning. "More information will be provided as appropriate."

Police have not indicated whether an arrest has been made or if a weapon has been recovered.
