Teen charged after loaded gun seized

London police say an 18-year-old is facing charges after allegedly dropping a loaded handgun while he was being arrested.

According to police, around noon Thursday an officer spotted a man getting into a vehicle on Third Street that had been reported stolen. Several officers responded to the area and the man ran from the scene. A police dog was used to apprehend him.

"During the apprehension of the suspect male, he dropped a loaded handgun," police said.

The teen is now charged with several firearms offences, as well as resisting arrest and failing to comply with a release order.
