Aerial OPP lay 25 charges in Chatham-Kent, Elgin, Essex

Provincial police are proving to the public that if you don't notice them on the highways, they may just be in the sky.

Over the course of two days, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Aviation Services laid a total of 25 charges against drivers along Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent, Elgin County and Essex County.

During the aerial enforcement blitz, the OPP said one person was charged with stunt driving, resulting in their car being impounded for 14 days along with a 30 day licence suspension.

Another 15 drivers were charged with speeding and two other motorists were found to be suspended drivers. The OPP said three commercial vehicle drivers were charged with following too closely.

"The OPP would like to remind all drivers that keeping an appropriate distance between vehicles on the roadways and obeying the speed limit can help prevent serious motor vehicle collisions," a release from the West Region OPP read.

All charges were laid between August 15-16.
