UPDATE: Truck driver charged after crash on 401 near West Lorne

A Brampton resident faces a charge after a crash involving a transport truck shut down a section of Highway 401 near West Lorne Thursday morning.

The crash happened in the eastbound lanes of the highway between Graham Road and Currie Road shortly at around 5:30 a.m.

Ontario Provincial Police say a transport truck was travelling westbound on the 401 when the vehicle crossed the centre median and hit the tension cables on the eastbound guard rail.

Traffic was detoured off the highway for roughly two hours while emergency crews were on scene and debris was cleared. All lanes were reopened just before 8 a.m.

The West Elgin Fire Department confirmed no one was hurt in the crash.

As a result, the driver, a 32-year-old from Brampton, has been charged with careless driving.
