An explosives investigation in Woodstock has led to charges being laid against a 36-year-old man.
Woodstock police were called about a weapons related incident in a parking lot at Wilson and Peel streets two separate times on Tuesday. First at 5:10 a.m. and then at 10:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, various officers, including members of the Waterloo Region police explosives disposal unit, blocked off the area as the investigation continued.
Police have provided no other details about the incident or what they found at the scene. The parking lot at the centre of the investigation belongs to the Children’s Aid Society of Oxford County.
No injuries were reported and there is no concern for public safety, police reassured on Thursday.
"Great team effort that resulted in a safe conclusion keeping our City of Woodstock community safe," Deputy Police Chief Nick Novacich tweeted.
A 36-year-old Woodstock man has been charged with two counts of intent to destroy or damage property by placing or throwing an explosive substance, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, mischief, and failure to comply with an undertaking.
