London man wins $100K top prize with Instant Crossword

A 56-year-old London man has won some extra cash for his retirement after scratching away the top prize on a crossword ticket.

Jay Murr was at home playing a $5 Instant Crossword Tripler when he uncovered his big win.

"I thought I won $100, so I said to my wife, ‘Looks like were going out for dinner,’” he said picking up his winnings at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) Prize Centre in Toronto. "I scanned it using the OLG App and that's when I realized it was a $100,000 win.”

Murr, a retired site supervisor, said he never thought he would win a jackpot and added that he's glad he's still young enough to enjoy his winnings how he pleases.

"I have a few trips on my bucket list. Maybe a cruise through the Panama Canal," Murr said.

Murr purchased his winning ticket at Byron Mini Mart on Base Line Road in London.
