Four men charged after police officer threatened

Four men are facing charges after a London police officer who was sitting in a vehicle in the east-end was confronted and threatened Monday afternoon.

The officer was wearing plain clothes and was seated in a vehicle parked in a lot on Marconi Boulevard south of Noel Avenue when he was approached by four men shortly after 1 p.m. One of the men banged on the driver side window of the vehicle, while the others circled it. The group demanded to know why the officer was there.

The officer's efforts to de-escalate the situation were met with death threats, police said.

More officers were called to the area and two men were arrested. They are alleged to have continued to utter threats towards police.

Two other men tried to run away, but were arrested nearby. A loaded gun was seized during the arrest.

All four men, aged 19, 21, 24, and 26, have been charged with criminal harassment by threatening conduct.

The 19-year-old is additionally charged with unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a loaded regulated firearm, possession of a weapon, and failure to comply with an undertaking.

The 24-year-old is also charged with uttering threats of death or bodily harm and intimidation by threats of violence.

All four men were scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
