For the fifth time in franchise history, the London Lightning are champions of the National Basketball League of Canada.
The Lightning beat the KW Titans 97-96 in Game 3 of the final series, completing a sweep of the Titans.
Lightning Guard and 2022 Canadian Player of the Year Terry Thomas led London with 25 points. Amir Williams put up 18 points for the Lightning while Chris Jones had 16 points and seven assists.
The Lightning came out strong in Game 3, taking a 31-14 lead in the first quarter. That lead shrank to nine points as the two teams went into halftime with the Lightning ahead 53-43.
A fairly even third quarter left the score 81-69 in favour of London heading into the final quarter.
The fourth quarter saw the Titans dominate London, taking a 93-92 lead with less than three minutes remaining. But a successful free throw from Mareik Isom with 14 seconds left gave the Lightning what would be the winning point. As the clock ran out, the celebration began for the Lightning's fifth NBLC championship.
