Ontario Green leader tests positive for COVID-19

The leader of the Ontario Green Party has tested positive for COVID-19.

Mike Schreiner confirmed late Wednesday evening that he tested positive on a rapid antigen test after learning he had been in close contact with a staff member that had recently tested positive.

"I'm fully vaccinated and am feeling fine," Schreiner said in a release sent out Wednesday night. "As public health advises, I will self-isolate for a few days and will continue campaigning remotely from home."

Schreiner was in Elora on Wednesday with the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation's Leader Karen Littlewood, who officially endorsed his candidacy.

The Guelph MPP currently sits as the only elected Green Party member in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. Schreiner won the riding in 2018 and has been the leader of the provincial Green Party since 2009.
