No one hurt after stolen truck hits school bus

It was fortunate no children were on board at the time.

London police say a school bus was rear-ended by a pickup truck in the area of Jalna Boulevard and Josselyn Drive around 7:40 a.m. on Monday.

The bus was just about to begin its morning route when the collision took place, so there weren't any kids on board. The bus driver was also not hurt.

A man and woman ran from the pickup following the crash. Police later determined the truck had been reported stolen.

Following the collision with the school bus, police say the man and woman then went into a home on Jalna Boulevard and robbed the occupants of the keys to a vehicle. The pair took off in that vehicle, but were later arrested outside London by the Ontario Provincial Police.

According to the OPP, the arrests came after officers were called to an address on Brigham Road, west of London, at around 9 a.m. to investigate a theft of a vehicle.

A short time later, police were dispatched to a crash at the intersection of Haskett Road and Nairn Road in Parkhill involving the vehicle stolen from the Brigham Road property. Officers arrested a man and a woman on the scene.

A 29-year-old man and 28-year-old woman, both of no fixed address, face charges including robbery with violence, break-and-enter with intent to commit an indictable offence and failing to comply with a release order.

The two remain in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call them at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
