Loaded handgun, fentanyl seized, two men arrested

London police seized a loaded handgun and more than $21,700 worth of fentanyl and methamphetamine in a bust on King Street Thursday night.

Officers with the guns and gangs section, with the help of the emergency response unit, arrested two men as part of an investigation. They then searched a vehicle that was seized from an undisclosed location on King Street.

The search turned up a loaded 9mm Taurus G2C handgun, 72 grams of suspected fentanyl, 37 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 13 Dilaudid pills, and a quantity of cash.

Two London men, aged 29 and 37, have since been charged with three counts each of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

The 29-year-old is additionally charged with possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon, possession of a loaded regulated firearm, careless use/handling/storage of a firearm, careless use/handling/storage of ammunition, and occupying a vehicle with a firearm.

Both men were scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges on Friday.
