Food distribution centre to create 200 jobs

A $39-million food distribution centre to be built in Ingersoll is expected to create 200 jobs in the community.

Dot Foods Canada has announced it will build the centre off Clarke Road near Highway 401 in the Oxford County town. It's expected the 126,500 square foot facility will be up and running in 2023.

The distribution centre will replace the Dot Foods facility in Brampton, which the company leases. According to company officials, employees at the Brampton facility will be offered jobs at the new site in Ingersoll. It also expects to hire 200 new employees over the next three to five years. The company says these positions will be mainly for warehouse workers, truck drivers, and administrative roles.

Those interested in applying for jobs can do so online at dotfoodscareers.com. The company says open positions will be posted in the coming months.

"We’re very excited to have Dot Foods Canada join the community in Ingersoll,” said Ingersoll Mayor Ted Comiskey. “This investment will provide great jobs to support hundreds of families within Ingersoll and area. Due to Ingersoll’s strategic location, this will introduce new opportunities within the food sector for the Town, Oxford County and Southwestern Ontario as a whole.”

The move from the leased facility in Brampton to a new home in Ingersoll was made necessary by the company's growth, according to its executive chairman.

“We are excited about the plans for this new facility for our Canadian operations,” said Dot Foods Canada Executive Chairman John Tracy. “Dot’s distribution model is in high demand in Canada, and that demand has driven the need to find a location that will provide the space and land needed for future expansion opportunities to 500,000 square feet. Ingersoll is a wonderful community, and we look forward to being a part of it.”
