Training exercise to bring military vehicles to London, Windsor

There will be an increased presence of military vehicles rolling through the London and Windsor areas starting on Thursday.

Canadian Army Reserve personnel from 31 Canadian Brigade Group will be taking part in a tactical armoured patrol vehicle driver and maintenance course from Thursday through Sunday. They will be conducting mounted reconnaissance driver training along planned routes from Windsor to London to CFB Borden near Barrie. The military vehicles will be visible on Highway 401, Highway 89, and on other country roads north of London and towards the CFB Borden training area.

Soldiers taking part will not be carrying any weapons and will remain within their vehicles, except when performing any required maintenance and resupply.

The training aims to maintain and further develop the skills of reservists in armoured reconnaissance operations, and to practice discipline, safety and effectiveness while operating specific vehicles within local areas, the Canadian Armed Forces said.

The public is asked to use caution when approaching military vehicles being used in the training.
