Convoy slows London drivers for several hours

Traffic slowdowns followed where a protest convoy led, through the city of London on Saturday afternoon.

The London Police Service (LPS) informed people that a convoy had entered the city just before 2 p.m.

Early on, police shut down sections of several roads surrounding Victoria Hospital, presumably to keep emergency access clear.

After police closed down parts of Commissioners Road, Wellington Street, and Dufferin Avenue, London Transit bus routes also began to see slowdowns.

As the convoy moved downtown, Richmond Street saw a temporary closure. And an accident involving multiple vehicles within the convoy on Wellington Road near Waterman Avenue impacted that area.

Police reported that no one was injured in the accident.

Just after 3:30 p.m. police began to slowly open roads back up.

No more roads were closed during the demonstration, but as the convoy broke up into different groups it impacted traffic in different areas of the city.

LPS announced that traffic had gone back to normal approximately three and a half hours after the protest entered the city.
