The London Police Services Board will have to fill a vacant seat following the announcement of Jeffery Lang's departure.
On Friday, the board confirmed that Lang will step down effective January 31, as he will soon be taking over as the President and CEO of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) for a three-year term set to begin in February.
"It has been an honour to serve a community which I love in my role on the London Police Services Board and I have very much enjoyed my time working with the Board and London Police Service Administration, in overseeing the safety and wellbeing of our community," read a statement from Lang. "It is with mixed emotions that I leave my role for this opportunity with WSIB."
Lang has served on Board as a provincial appointee since March of 2019. He has also worked as Chair of the Finance and Administration Committee since October 2020.
"The Board is extremely grateful for Mr. Lang's contributions to the work of the Board over the past nearly three years, and wishes him success, health and happiness as he embarks on his exciting next chapter with the WSIB," the LPSB said in a release.
In December, the Board appointed London lawyer Ali Chahbar to fill a vacancy after Dr. Javeed Sukhera's term ended.
Currently, six other Londoners serve on the seven-member board, which includes.
