What’s open, closed in London on New Year’s Day

Londoners will wake up in 2022 on Saturday morning and can expect a list of New Year's Day closures.

All federal, provincial, and municipal government offices, banks, and all London Public Library branches will be closed on January 1, there will also be no mail delivery.

Major shopping centres including White Oaks Mall, CF Masonville Place, Westmount Shopping Centre, Cherryhill Village Mall will be shut down. All LCBO stores, Beer Stores, and the Labatt Retail Store will be closed on Saturday. The Covent Garden Market, grocery stores, Costco, and most drug stores will also be closed to the public.

If you require something a drug store would have in stock, Shoppers Drug Mart at 510 Hamilton Road will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Locations at Sherwood Forest Mall at 1225 Wonderland Road North and 1224 Commissioners Road West will be open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

For those needing to get around the city by bus, the LTC will be running on a Sunday schedule on Saturday.

Looking for coffee or a bite to eat? Select coffee shops restaurants, along with some convenience stores will be open on New Year’s Day. Movie theatres will also remain open.

If you have been waiting to check out the Magic of Lights holiday drive through, the display at Longwoods Road Conservation Area will be on for another night on New Year's Day before the display wraps up Sunday night.

Most stores and businesses will resume regular hours will resume again on Sunday.
