Forest City Road Races to be held in the fall

An annual event that gets Londoners physically active while raising funds for children with disabilities and developmental delays is moving from the spring to the fall.

The director of the Forest City Road Races announced on the event Facebook page that next year's 40th anniversary races are being postponed.

"We are trying our best to have an in person event," wrote Shauna Versloot. "Under the advisory of the health unit along with the guidance of the City of London, as well as having full support from our sponsors, the fall is sounding like our best bet for that."

The races, a 5 km, 10km, and half-marathon, are traditionally held downtown in late April. They were held virtually this year because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

"The good news: With the cases rising and the unpredictability of restrictions, we aren’t cancelling or switching to a virtual only event for April," Versloot continued. "More good news: You will have an amazing event to look forward to in 2022 and you have eight solid months to train for it."

The new fall race date has not yet been announced. It will be released when registration for the races open in March.

"There are a lot of moving pieces that come together for our event and we need to secure them all together before we announce the official date," Versloot stated.

This past spring, the annual races raised more than $20,000 for the Thames Valley Children’s Centre.
