Business Cares Food Drive seeking donations

With just a few days until the campaign wraps up, organizers of the Business Cares Food Drive say they need more donations.

Each December, businesses in London are urged to donate food and cash to the drive, which supports the London Food Bank. Campaign Chair Wayne Dunn says they need to finish strong.

"Every year we’re awed by the generosity of the London community. The reality is that with Covid still upon us, and the uncertainty of the impact of the new variant, we expect there to be increasing needs at the food bank over the coming months,” Dunn said. “If Londoners are looking to donate to the cause, we’d greatly appreciate the support -- but only if you’re able."

Last year’s food drive received a record total of 597,000 pounds worth of food, despite the uncertainties surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. While there is no stated goal this year, the focus is on financial donations that will allow the London Food Bank to purchase fresh food items like produce, milk, eggs and baby food to support programs throughout the upcoming year.

Food and cash or cheque donations can be dropped off at the Edge Automation Warehouse and Business Cares Headquarters at 363 Sovereign Rd. Donation pickups can also be arranged by calling 519-661-9803. Cheques should be made out to "London Food Bank/Business Cares." Donations may also be made online at businesscares.ca.

The campaign wraps up on Wednesday, December 22.

All donations collected during the food drive will be delivered to the food bank before Christmas.
