Driver charged with running red after cyclist hit

A cyclist in St. Thomas was taken to hospital after being hit by a driver that allegedly ran a red light.

St. Thomas police were called to the collision on Talbot Street at Manitoba Street on Thursday night.

Investigators determined the cyclist was crossing the intersection heading north when they were struck by an eastbound vehicle. The cyclist was treated in hospital for minor injuries.

"CCTV footage from the downtown core was reviewed and confirmed the witness recounts to police reporting that the vehicle had run a red light," police said.

A 35-year-old St. Thomas man has been charged with failing to stop for a red light.
