More COVID-19 cases detected at ten London-area schools

New cases of COVID-19 have been identified at ten schools in the region, including five in London and three in Woodstock.

The Thames Valley District School Board identified the cases late Sunday night at the following schools:

-College Ave Secondary in Woodstock -East Oxford Public in Woodstock -Southside Public in Woodstock -Glendale High in Tillsonburg -B Davison Secondary in London -Medway High in London -Princess Anne French Immersion Public in London -Rick Hansen Public in London -Sir Wilfrid Laurier Secondary in London -Straffordville Public in Straffordville

The Middlesex London Health Unit and Southwestern Public Health are working to identify close contacts of the infected individuals.

"If you do not receive a letter from Thames Valley indicating the public health unit has identified your child as a close contact, your child is not considered to be at risk," the school board said in a statement. "Only those staff and students who have been identified as a close contact will be notified and advised to stay home from school and quarantine for a period of ten days."

All of the schools remain open.

The Thames Valley board currently has 55 active COVID-19 cases at 27 of its schools. Eight of those infections are linked to Port Burwell Public, which has been closed to in-person learning. It is expected to reopen next Monday.
