Pickup truck reported stolen from Chatham crashes into London home

Charges have been laid against two young men after a pickup truck reported stolen from Chatham crashed into a west London home early last week.

According to London police, at around 1:15 p.m. November 9, officers responded to a collision involving a pickup truck and a garage door at a residence on Woodcrest Boulevard, just behind Westmount Shopping Centre.

Police say witnesses watched the truck mount the curb and cross a boulevard and sidewalk before it hit the home. After the incident, two men ran from the area.

"Checks revealed that the involved pickup truck was reported stolen out of Chatham, Ontario, earlier in the day," a statement from London police read.

Investigators were given descriptions of the pair and the alleged driver and passenger were arrested later by police.

A 19-year-old man from Muncey and a 20-year-old London man are jointly charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The 19-year-old man faces additional charges of dangerous driving, impaired driving, and failing to comply with a peace officer's demand.

Both men have since been released and are scheduled to appear in court in London on February 7, 2022.
