15 new COVID-19 cases in London, Middlesex

The Middlesex London Health Unit is reporting 15 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the community is 105. There has now been a total of 14,638 confirmed cases in the London area since the start of the pandemic. There have also been 14,286 cases that are considered to be resolved.

No deaths were reported Sunday. Public health officials announced the death of a man in his 80s on Saturday. The COVID-19 death toll in the London area is at 247.

The London Health Sciences Centre says it is caring for nine COVID-19 patients. Five or fewer are in intensive care. The hospital uses the “five or fewer” figure when the number of patients get low enough that giving an exact number might compromise patient privacy. None of the patients in intensive care are in Children’s Hospital.

As of Friday in Elgin and Oxford counties, 58 new cases were reported by Southwestern Public Health. However, that report covers two days, as the health unit did not report its latest numbers on Thursday because it was closed to mark Remembrance Day.

The Thames Valley District school board has reported COVID-19 cases at six London-area schools.

The province reported 666 new cases Sunday and seven additional deaths. There has now been a total of 607,173 confirmed cases in Ontario since the start of the pandemic.
