Winter-like conditions could make an appearance throughout parts of southwestern Ontario on Sunday.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement late Saturday afternoon for parts of the region including London-Middlesex, Elgin and Oxford, Huron-Perth and Grey-Bruce counties.
The weather agency stated periods of snow are expected to track through starting early Sunday afternoon and into Monday. Between 2-6 centimetres of snow could fall in some areas inland from the lakes. Local snowfall amounts up to 10 cm in places where temperatures are near or below the zero degree mark is also possible.
"There is still some uncertainty in the snowfall amounts as snow could be mixed with rain and reduce the snowfall accumulation," a release from Environment Canada read. "Note that impacts may be limited somewhat as warm ground temperatures will aid in some melting of the snow."
Some areas in midwestern Ontario have already had an early preview to the winter weather, while London and the surrounding area have yet to see more than a centimetre or so of the white stuff that was quick to melt off.
Drivers are reminded to use caution while driving in snowy conditions.
