The number of active cases of COVID-19 in the London area climbed back above 90 on Friday, as 14 new cases were reported.

There are currently 95 active cases in London and Middlesex County. The 14 new cases bring the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 14,607. Of those, 14,266 are considered resolved.

No deaths were reported Friday, so the COVID-19 death toll in the London area remains at 246.

The London Health Sciences Centre says it is caring for nine COVID-19 patients. Five or fewer are in intensive care. The hospital uses the “five or fewer” figure when the number of patients get low enough that giving an exact number might compromise patient privacy. None of the patients in intensive care are in Children’s Hospital.

In Elgin and Oxford counties, 58 new cases were reported by Southwestern Public Health. However, that report covers two days, as the health unit did not report its latest numbers on Thursday because it was closed to mark Remembrance Day.

Ontario reported 598 new cases on Friday. The seven-day average of new cases is now at 537.

Five deaths deaths were reported, bringing Ontario’s COVID-19 death toll to 9,921.
