10 new COVID-19 cases in London, Middlesex County

Ten new cases of COVID-19 were reported by the Middlesex London Health Unit on Wednesday, a day that saw the number of active cases in the community fall below 90.

The 10 new cases bring the total in London and Middlesex County since the start of the pandemic to 14,582. Of those, 14,247 are considered resolved. No deaths were reported Wednesday, so the London-ara death toll remains at 246.

There are currently 89 active cases in London and Middlesex County.

The London Health Sciences Centre says it is caring for nine COVID-19 patients. Five or fewer are in intensive care. The hospital uses the “five or fewer” figure when the number of patients get low enough that giving an exact number might compromise patient privacy. None of the patients in intensive care are in Children's Hospital.

In Elgin and Oxford counties, 22 new COVID-19 cases were reported Wednesday. That brings Southwestern Public Health’s total number of confirmed infections since the start of the pandemic to 4,868. No deaths were reported Wednesday. There are 131 active cases in the two counties.

Ontario reported 454 new cases on Wednesday. The seven-day average of new cases is now at 503. That marks the first time in about a month that the 7-day average has been over 500.

Nine deaths deaths were reported, bringing Ontario’s COVID-19 death toll to 9,912.
