11 new COVID-19 cases in London, Middlesex

The Middlesex-London Health Unit is reporting 11 new infections Saturday, down 16 cases from the previous day.

The number of active cases in the community, as of Saturday, is 119. No new deaths were reported Saturday.

The only school outbreak in London or Middlesex County remains ongoing. The health unit says there are six confirmed cases at Our Lady of the Pillar Academy in Strathroy.

The London Health Sciences Centre is treating six patients with COVID-19. As of Friday, Five or fewer of those patients are listed in intensive care and five or fewer are in the care of Children’s Hospital.

There are currently five or fewer hospital employees who have tested positive for the virus.

Southwestern Public Health, the health unit for Elgin and Oxford counties, reported 19 new cases Friday, increasing its total case count since the start of the pandemic to 4,569. The death toll was unchanged at 90 with no additional deaths recorded.  The number of resolved cases rose to 4,397.

There are now 82 active cases in the two counties.

Provincially, there were 373 new cases reported Saturday, along with six additional deaths. There are 269 people with COVID in Ontario hospitals, 136 of whom are in intensive care.
