10 new COVID-19 cases recorded in London, Middlesex

The Middlesex London Health Unit is reporting 10 new infections Sunday, down five cases from the previous day.

There has not been a COVID-19 related death in the area since last Sunday, which leaves the death toll unchanged at 243.

The number of active cases in the community, as of Sunday, is 119. The number of resolved cases rose by 22 to 13,929

As of Friday, The London Health Sciences Centre said it is caring for nine patients with COVID-19. Five or fewer are in intensive care. None of the COVID-19 patients are at Children’s Hospital. The LHSC currently has no hospital staff who have tested positive for the virus.

Schools across the region are dealing with three outbreaks and 32 active cases at 21 facilities. The outbreaks involve Ryerson Public School, London Christian High, and St. Kateri Elementary School.

There are currently eight active cases within the Catholic board and 17 active cases in the Thames Valley District school board.

On Saturday, a case of COVID-19 was identified by local public health officials at Eagle Heights Public School.

Officials said only people who have been identified as a close contact will be notified and advised to stay home from school to quarantine for a period of 10 days.

Provincially, there were 443 new cases reported Sunday. Now new deaths were reported.  Of the new infections reported Sunday, the majority of new cases involved people who are either unvaccinated, partially vaccinated, or their vaccination status is unknown.

There are 242 people in the hospital being treated for COVID-19. Of those, 164 are in intensive care.
