The man accused of throwing a handful of gravel at Justin Trudeau as he campaigned in London made a brief court appearance Wednesday.
Shane Marshall, 25, of St. Thomas had his case put over to November 10.
The former official with the Elgin Middlesex London People's Party of Canada riding association was charged with assault with a weapon on September 11, five days after the incident.
Trudeau was boarding his campaign bus after visiting the London Co-Operative Brewing Company on Princess Avenue when someone threw gravel in his direction. The gravel appeared to hit the Liberal party leader in the head and shoulder. He looked startled for a moment, briefly glanced over his shoulder at the crowd, then boarded the bus. Trudeau was not hurt.
Not long after the incident, the Elgin Middlesex London People's Party of Canada riding association removed Marshall from his position.
Marshall phoned in to the virtual court appearance Wednesday and told the Justice of the Peace that he is currently seeking legal counsel and working on getting evidence disclosure from the Crown.
