Two charged in shooting that injured man

Charges have been laid against an 18-year-old man and a minor after a shooting Friday in the Glen Cairn neighbourhood that sent one person to hospital.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Vinewood Court and Cleveland Avenue around 12:15 p.m. where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

London police arrested two people and seized a gun shortly after.

The shooting is not considered to have been random, police previously said.

Oshayne Carnagie, 18, of London and a young person who cannot be named because of their age are now charged with aggravated assault, possession of a restricted firearm without a licence, possession of a firearm obtained by crime, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Carnagie is additionally charged with five other offences including discharging a firearm with intent to wound or endanger life, pointing a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and failure to comply with release order.

Both of the accused appeared in London court in relation to the charges on Saturday. Carnagie was remanded into custody and will make his next court appearance Tuesday. The youth will be back in court on October 4.
