Charges expected in crash that killed Woodstock woman

A 50-year-old Woodstock woman has been identified as the person killed in a two-vehicle crash in the city Friday night.

Woodstock police and paramedics were called to the intersection of Main and Mill streets just before 10 p.m. after the two vehicles collided.

Karen Franklin, the driver of one of the vehicles, had to be cut from the wreckage. She was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 27-year-old man from Woodstock, was treated for minor injuries.

Police alleged the man hit Franklin's vehicle after going through a red light at the intersection.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are expected to be laid, police said.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call police at 519-537-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
