Health officials are asking patrons of a Central London restaurant to monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms following an outbreak.
The Middlesex-London Health Unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Delilah’s on Sunday after 15 patrons tested positive for the virus. The health unit was first notified of three initial cases associated with the restaurant at 209 John St. on Friday. An additional 12 cases were reported on Saturday.
Health investigators have also determined that several of these individuals attended a gathering at a private residence while infectious.
“We know that it raises concerns when the health unit declares a COVID-19 outbreak, especially at a restaurant, but we are starting to see cases and outbreaks increase in our region, including cases in individuals who are vaccinated,” said Dr. Alex Summers, an associate medical officer of health with the health unit, in a news release.
Anyone who attended the restaurant on August 5-7 is urged to monitor themselves for possible COVID-19 symptoms. Anyone who becomes symptomatic is asked to visit a COVID-19 assessment centre
“Even though patios and restaurants are open and indoor dining is permitted, we must not let our guard down," said Dr. Summers. "Wear a mask, maintain physical distancing, gather outdoors as much as possible and if you’re spending any time indoors, make sure everyone you’re hanging out with is fully vaccinated.”
As of Friday, there were 83 active COVID-19 cases in the London-Middlesex region.
