Charges laid in crash that led to fight in Woodstock

Four days after a crash and altercation that sent one person to hospital, a 32-year-old Woodstock man has been charged.

Woodstock police were called about the incident in the area of Standard Tube Park at Dundas Street near the 11th Line just before 10 a.m. on Friday. A fight had reportedly broken out after a crash. When officers arrived at the scene they found a man suffering from non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital where he has since been treated and released.

A suspect in the matter was arrested nearby a short time later with the help of the police canine unit. Unspecified weapons, drug paraphernalia, and more than $3,000 in cash was seized.

A 32-year-old Woodstock man is now charged with half a dozen offences including possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and failure to comply with a probation and release order.

The criminal investigations bureau is continuing its investigation and is asking anyone with information to call them at 519-537-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
