UPDATE: Air quality statement ended

An air quality statement has ended across southern Ontario.

On Monday, Environment Canada issued a special air quality statement for all areas across southern Ontario due to smoke from active forest fires in northwestern Ontario.

By early Tuesday evening, the statement was ended for most areas in midwestern, central, and eastern Ontario. The alert briefly remained in place for areas including Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, Sarnia-Lambton, London-Middlesex, Elgin and Oxford counties.

Just before 9:30 p.m., the statement was lifted for all areas.
