Man charged in crash that injured three, including toddler

A Stoney Creek man is facing charges following a two-vehicle collision south of Woodstock that sent three people to hospital, including an 18-month-old child.

The Ontario Provincial Police said a motor vehicle and a pick-up truck collided at the intersection of Oxford Road 13 and Norwich Road on Friday at around 1:50 p.m. The driver of the pickup truck fled the scene of the crash and headed west on Norwich Road.

The three occupants of the other vehicle, including the toddler, were rushed to hospital with undisclosed injuries.  A passenger of the vehicle was later airlifted to a London-area hospital for further treatment.

Julio Zari-Torres, 41, of Stoney Creek was later arrested in connection with the crash. He is now charged with three counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm, failing to stop at the scene of a collision causing bodily harm, and failing to report a collision.  He is scheduled to appear in a Woodstock court at a later date.
