Airshow London named best show in North America

Airshow London has been deemed the best in North America by USA Today's 10 Best Readers' Choice Awards.

Nominees for this year's contest were selected by a panel of experts, and editors from USA Today and 10Best.com. The public was also invited to vote over four weeks to help determine a winner.

Airshow London was the only Canadian show to make the list this year. Executive director Holly Doty says the team feels extremely proud to receive the title.

"Our team of staff and volunteers dedicate so much of their time and energy to put on an incredible event for our guests, and this show of support from our fans across North America for the new COVID-19-friendly SkyDrive format validates our efforts," Doty said.

Last year, the show made history by selling out a modified show that complied with public health guidelines during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. An estimated total of 20,000 people attended the weekend event.

This year, the Canadian Forces Snowbirds are among other military aviation teams that will be in attendance for another socially distanced SkyDrive event from August 27-29.

"We are so grateful for the continued support and participation from the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, Royal Canadian Air Force and other organizations which attract a lot of attention from fans, locally and from afar," said Airshow London Director of Air Operations, Gerry Vanderhoek.

London was ranked the best airshow ahead of the Pacific Airshow in Huntington Beach, California.
