London Knights "working with" player criminally charged in Sweden

A London Knights player and NHL draft hopeful faced criminal charges in Sweden for distributing a sexually explicit photo without consent.

Logan Mailloux, a defenseman that some NHL draft experts said could go in the first round of the draft, sent teammates photos of a 18-year-old woman performing a sex act on him in November.

He was playing for SK Lejon, with the OHL shutdown during the pandemic.

Mailloux was 17 at the time of the incident, and gave permission to Daily Faceoff for his story to be released. The woman couldn't be identified in the photos, but Mailloux also sent her Facebook profile to teammates shortly afterwards.

Despite the incident and the subsequent investigation, Mailloux completed the season with SK Lejon before returning to Canada. He paid a fine and the matter was no longer in the Swedish court system

The hockey website also quoted Mailloux as apologizing to the victim.

The Knights released a statement on Friday to say they are "working with" Mailloux, who has apologized for the incident.

"The team and League will continue to closely monitor the situation," the statement said.

Daily Faceoff reported that several NHL teams, including the Toronto Maple Leafs, have Mailloux on a "Do Not Draft" list for the July 23rd-24th selections.
