Motorcyclist ejected during two-vehicle crash

A motorcycle rider has been seriously injured after a rear-end collision north of Port Rowan.

The Ontario Provincial Police said the motorcyclist was struck from behind by another vehicle while travelling north on Highway 59 near McDowell Road West, at around 5:48 p.m. on Sunday. The collision caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from the vehicle.

The rider was rushed to an area hospital with serious injuries before being airlifted to a London hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

The highway was closed for around two hours following the collision while emergency crews were at the scene. The roadway has since been reopened.

Police said an investigation is ongoing.

This collision comes just one day after a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred in neighbouring Elgin County. The collision claimed the life of a 71-year-old Blenheim man.
