Man charged in kidnapping, sexual assault of teen

A London man has been arrested and charged after a teenaged girl was kidnapped and sexually assualted last year.

According to London police, in the summer of 2020, the girl started communicating with what she thought was a 14-year-old boy on Snapchat. During their communications, they agreed to meet at a shopping plaza in the city.

"On the day of the arranged meet, a vehicle approached the young girl while she waited," police said. "The adult male driver told the girl to get into the vehicle and threatened to harm her if she did not comply. The female was taken to another location and was sexually assaulted by the man."

The assault was reported to police in March of this year and an investigation as launched.

On Tuesday, police arrested a suspect. David G. Nichol, 47, of London is charged with kidnapping, two counts of telecommunication with a person under 16 for specific criminal offences, two counts of sexuall assault, two counts of sexual interference with a person under 16, two counts of forcible confinement, and one count of invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age.

Nichol is to appear in court Thursday.
