Another death and 14 more COVID cases reported in London-Middlesex

The London-Middlesex region has recorded another death related to COVID-19 as the case count trickled upwards on Saturday.

The Middlesex London Health Unit has reported that COVID-19 was a contributing factor in the death of a man in his 80s, bringing the region's COVID-19 death toll to 221.

The health unit also logged 14 new infections over the past 24 hours, which is down from 22 on Friday and 18 on Thursday. Daily case numbers have been below 50 for 13 straight days and have not reached the triple-digits in nearly a month.

The region has recorded a total of 12,334 cases since the pandemic began.

The total number of resolved cases sits at 11,959, which is up 73 from Friday.

On Friday, the London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) reported a total of 30 COVID-19 inpatients at the hospital, with nine of those listed in intensive care.

As of May 29, 56.9 per cent of residents over the age of 11 in the London-Middlesex region have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Another 3.7 per cent of residents over the age of 11 have received two doses.
