UPDATE: Police investigate two stabbings, one victim succumbs to injuries

London police say they responded to two stabbings near Western University campus early Saturday morning.

At around 9 a.m., officers were called to the area Richmond Street and Epworth Avenue for a report of a man who had been stabbed.

Emergency crews arrived and the victim was transported to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries due to a stab wound.

Shortly after, police located an adult male suspect near the area of the incident and he was arrested.

Approximately 20 minutes after the first incident, police were notified of a second stabbing of another male victim in the area of Patricia Street and University Crescent.

Police say the second victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. It was later confirmed that the man died in hospital as a result of his injuries.

While both incidents occurred within a short period of time, and in close proximity to one another, police have not yet confirmed if the stabbings are related.

Officers continue to investigate the situation and will release more information as it becomes available.

Anyone with information is asked to call London police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
