Stolen Porsche sped onto sidewalk before crash

Charges have been laid against two people after a stolen Porsche jumped a curb and collided with a hydro pole while trying to get away from London police.

The vehicle was stolen from a west-end driveway on Monday. Police spotted it the same afternoon in the area of Clarke and Gore roads and tried to pull it over.

In an attempt to get away, the driver reversed the vehicle at a high rate of speed, before driving onto the sidewalk and hitting a hydro pole on Royal Crescent, police said.

The male driver is alleged to have resisted arrest, while officers took the female passenger into custody without incident.

A 28-year-old London man is charged with half a dozen offences including dangerous operation of a vehicle, impairing driving, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, failing to stop for police, driving without a licence, and resisting arrest.

A 39-year-old woman is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
