Bonsai tree thieves sought

St. Thomas police are asking for the public's help identifying two green-thumbed suspects who made off with bonsai trees from an east-end business.

The small, ornamental trees were snatched sometime between last Friday and Sunday from a locked compound behind a store on Talbot Street near Elgin Street. A witness reported seeing a man and woman walking away from the area, possibly carrying the tree around 2 a.m. on Sunday.

It is the second time in recent weeks bonsai trees have been stolen from the business.

Police released a surveillance image of the suspects on Tuesday in hopes someone will be able to identify the suspects.

The first suspect is described as a woman with blonde hair, while the other was described as a man wearing a hat, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519-631-1224.
