$83K worth of drugs seized after man found asleep at the wheel

A Corunna man got a rude awakening after London police found a vehicle with more than $83,000 worth of drugs and a sleeping man inside.

Police spotted the vehicle stopped at a red light in the area of Dundas Street and Clarke Road around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The driver appeared to be asleep while behind the wheel. The officer pulled his cruiser in front of the vehicle and walked to the window of the vehicle.

The man inside was arrested.

A search turned up 598 grams of methamphetamine,18.8 grams of fentanyl, 176 dilaudid pills, 70 oxycodone pills, 134 hydromorphone pills, eight grams of cocaine, 27 grams of Hash Oil, 50 methylphenidate pills, 5.7 grams of psilocybin, one Xanax pill, and a digital scale.

Just over $5,000 in cash was also seized.

A 50-year-old Corunna man is charged with 42 offences including 28 counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and impaired operation of a vehicle.

The accused was scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges Wednesday.
